So many people have told me this, and I think I agree. . . but now he's 19 months and I think quickly going on that infamous age of 2!
Let's focus on the the wonderful age of 18 months for a minute though. Jacob has blossomed in so many ways over the past month! His language has exploded, it's so amazing. I took many child development classes and learned about these milestones but its really just an amazing thing watching your own child grow! It still can't believe how fast it happens, this past month was especially that way. I am sure he learned a few new words everyday and his independent, precocious, cheerful, energetic personality is unfolding. He's a very busy boy, there is really no other way to describe it. He LOVES being outside and would sped every waking hour outside if he could, he'd probably even sleep outside! Fortunately we've had lots of wonderful spring weather already.
It amazes me how observant he is. He knows where each of his classmates cubbies are at school, and what lunch box and jacket belong to each of them. He is very sweet to his friends and likes to gives everyone a hug before he leaves or the day.
This month has also been another month of teething and what a trooper he is. His first set of bottom molars are finally in and the top ones are on their way. He still loves music and is very clear about which song he wants to sing. He knows what he wants( and what he doesn't) regarding food, singing, playing, well, with just about everything!
He is very interested in transportation. Busses and airplanes and helicopters are his favorites. When you have an 18 month old you're reminded quickly of the simple joys in life. Seeing a bus makes his day! Fortunately there is a bus stop right outside the playground at school, and the hospital's helicopter landing pad is in plain site too. The best thing in the world for an 18 month old boy! Trucks and cars and scooters and motorcycles are quite exciting too, wouldn't want to leave those out.
One of the most exciting parts of Jacob's 18th month was that he wasn't sick! I almost don't want to say anything so not to jinx our luck but its great news. Jacob finished his last dose of antibiotics for a sinus infection a month ago and hasn't had an ear infection since Jan 17th! Wahoooo! This is a big change for us and a welcome one!
This month he's been quite fond of the color yellow and the number two. He likes singing "Row Row", "Wheels on the bus" and " EIEIO". He still loves fish, oatmeal, berries and cheese. He climbed on the couch by himself for the first time, and happily takes a bath as long as Mommy is there and his Elmo bath mat is too.
18 months was a great age!
