Walking, talking, signing and dancing

Jacob is a walking, talking, signing, dancing, happy little boy these days.  He walks 95% of the time now and loves wearing his shoes.  When he's getting dressed in the morning he often wants to put his shoes on before he has the rest of his clothes on.  His signing vocabulary is still expanding and he is also saying new words everyday.  He surprises me all the time with the words he'll say that I think he may have one heard once or twice in his life!  He signs:  milk, water, more, finished, all done, rain, bird, deer, airplane, tree (those are the ones I can think of at least).

He loves music and dancing and has recently been very fond of tickle time.  He'll walk towards us with the biggest grin on his face and fall into our lap saying "tickle, tickle"to the best of his ability or look at us and then lay down on the floor and roll over so we'll tickle his belly.  He has the sweetest little laugh!

He's also become Mr. Independent and often decides he only wants to walk in one direction (usually the opposite of the way we need to go) or wants to wash his own hair with the washcloth in the bathtub.  He's getting really good but isn't quite there yet and gets upset when we help.  He is also little Mr. Picky eater . . . in his own way.   He's not the typical picky toddler who only wants to eat macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets, but he has his own list of foods that he'll eat and looks like everything else like it's an alien.  He will consistently eat: peas, edamame beans, yogurt, cheese, hummus, raspberries, blueberries and pasta.  He will usually eat lima beans, spinach, mushrooms, green beans and applesauce.  He will not eat meat, most bread, most fruit and veggies that aren't green.  Oh silly boy!  We aren't complaining because at least it's healthy but sometimes feeding him peas for dinner 5 days in a row gets old.

The weather finally cooled down a tad here this week (or at least the humidity is down a bit, it's still in the mid 80s during the day.  It's been beautiful and we've been taking longer walks in the evening and even went to the park on the way home from school this afternoon for a few minutes.  We're looking forward to many more days we can get outside and play and hope this awesome weather sticks around!
