14 months old!

Jacob finished his second round of antibiotics to clear up his ear infection on Friday and Saturday morning he woke up with a fever of 101.4.  So, off to the doctor it was again.  We ended up getting some good news though, his ears were clear so the medicine worked!  Now he has a virus, and oh what a long weekend it was!  His fever went up on Saturday night and Sunday it was 102.5 but finally broke Sunday evening.  We spent the weekend doing lots of cuddling and feeling like we had a 2 month old in the house again.  We both juggled work and being home with him Monday and by Tuesday he was improving improve, showing signs of his normal playful, smiling, silly self again, just in time to celebrate being 14 months old!    He seems to add lots of works to his vocabulary everyday.  The other day he said blackberries and raspberries and cheese at lunch and he loves to try to say the words apple and opposites.  He says book and dog and knows Bailey is a dog.  He likes to vacuum with his pop pop toy and pretend to talk on the phone, and he will repeat peoples names: Aunt Suz and Aunt Jessie (he says Jess).  He is signing deer and rain and please now and obviously feeds off our reactions to what he's doing.  In the car earlier this week he was putting a toy and his paci on his head and as soon as I started laughing he did the same thing and then proceed to do the same thing over and over and laugh all the way home.  What fun he is right now!  You can see the little wheels churning inside his head trying to figure out the world.

But . . . yesterday, both Mark and Jacob woke up sick again.  Mark has a sore throat and Jacob started with a runny nose and cough.  Last night was miserable, we were up until 3am trying to get him to sleep and after a trip to the doctor this morning he's on antibiotics for ANOTHER ear infection.  I think this is just karma for being an Audiologist.  I NEVER had ear infections as a child!  So, I think when we go for his follow-up with his pediatrician we'll be getting a referral to the ENT.

As for a stats update:  At the doctor on Saturday he weighed 23lbs, 14oz.  He's still wearing between 12 and 18 month clothes and he wears size 5 shoes but his little feet seem to be growing like crazy.
