2 months and growing like a weed!

Family picture at Satchels pizza

Jacob was 2 months old on Saturday. He had his 2 month check up at the doctor on Friday and got his first set of shots which made him very tired! He slept for almost 2 days straight and then made up for it by waking up 3-4 times a night. We're hoping that he'll transition back to a better night time routine shortly. He smiles a laughs at us all the time now, especially in the mornings. Every morning for the last week he's been laying in his crib with a huge grin on his face when I go get him in the morning. There isn't a better alarm clock in the world! It amazes me how much he changes every day!

I am trying to keep an update of his current stats on the right side of the blog but here they are as well:
11lbs, 5.4 oz
23.5 inches long

During the past week he has:

- Become much more aware of and interested in his surroundings.
- Discovered his hands and tried desperately to shove them in his mouth many times a day
- Noticed his feet a few times when he was wearing bright colored socks
- Become very interested in other people (and babies) at the mother's luncheon I attend on Tuesdays.
- Become quite the snuggler with Mommy.
- Shown us that he REALLY REALLY likes being outside!
- Become even better at holding his head up on his own.

We are enjoying the wonderful Fall weather that arrived last weekend. We've had the windows open for a few days and love the fresh (and not very humid) Fall air. We're enjoying lots of walks and time outside in the back yard. Today we're going to meet Daddy for lunch and have a picnic in the garden at his work.

Here are a few pictures of our growing little boy.

I LOVE this picture!

Shake n' Bake Jake

I know, I know, you're thinking to yourself FINALLY some new Jacob pictures. I
apologize for my lack of photo uploading, but we've been a busy bunch. Doing what you might ask? Trying not to miss a minute as our little man grows! I think my last weekly picture was the 4 week post so hopefully this will catch us up to present time . . . 7 weeks!

Jacob is enjoying his first football season so far and Daddy loves having a new buddy to watch the games. While Michael and Claire were here we put Jacob in the crocheted football outfit my friend Brittany made and took pictures of him in his VT tailgating chair from Grandma and Grandpa Siburt. I think we had more fun than he did but he was good sport and a cute little football!

Such a serious model.

Isn't he a cute little football?

We found out Jacob had a posterior tongue tie about 2 weeks ago and last Monday, on his 6 week birthday, the pediatrician clipped it. The changes we've seen in him since have been amazing. It was a tiny tongue tie (probably one of the reasons why it wasn't found initially), but since it's been clipped he is doing so much more with his "new tongue". He's starting to blow little raspberries, he sticks out his tongue now, and he's a much more efficient eater. He also completely changed pacifiers. He was very picky before and would only take the ones they gave us in the hospital, now it seems he doesn't know how to take those anymore but he likes a different kind. We haven't been back to the pediatrician since and won't go until his 2 month check up but at 6 weeks old he weighed 9lbs, 14oz! The little man is getting chubby, and boy are his cheeks cute!

In the last week he's outgrown almost all of his newborn clothes so we have a whole new wardrobe to put on him now. He's still long and lean so some even though the 0-3 month clothes fit length wise many of them are too big on his shoulders and stomach. I'm sure he'll grow into them quickly though.

In other Jacob news he's smiling more and more every day and is starting to laugh and make lots of cute little baby sounds. He loves laying on the floor, kicking his legs, waving his arms, and "talking". Last week I had to go into work one day and took him with me (I told people we were skipping the primary schools and just starting him off in college). While I was there some of my office mates were playing with him ( a little baby therapy does everyone good), and nicknamed him "Shake n' Bake Jake". I will try to get a good video of his shake n' bake performance and post it soon.

This weekend he teased me with two nights of a 5 hour block of sleep and then a night with an hour 8 hour block, but now we're back to 3-4 hours at a time. I can't complain since he's still such a tiny little guy, but I hope that means there's promise for some good nights of sleep in our future.

His little personality is appearing more and more every day. He knows what he wants and isn't afraid to let us know :-). For instance, we decided to go on a walk the other night and it was getting dark. He was wide awake and is usually very happy sitting it the stroller on walks, but that night he was really fussy. About half way through the walk we figured out that he was happy every time we were under a street light, and then fussy while we were walking in the dark. He must have thought we were trying to put him to bed and he still wanted to be awake. So, for the rest of the time we speed walked between street lights to keep him happy . . . I'm sure it was a sight.

This week Jacob has his first cold, it's not slowing him down any but he's been a little sneezy, snotty man for a couple of days. Don't worry, I've already called the pediatrician to check on things and they assure me he's fine. He doesn't have a fever and only seems to have a bit of nasal congestion for a few hours in the early evening.

Finally, he's starting to become my little snuggle bug and I love it! After he eats he'll climb up on my shoulder or bury his head in my elbow and fall asleep, it's wonderful! I don't get much done that way but I know he won't want to snuggle forever so I have to take advantage of it now.

I think those are all of the big Jacob updates, I'll try to find time to post more regularly. Until next time, enjoy a few smiles!

Hey cutie!

What we didn't know is that he was happy because he was filling his diaper . . . minutes later we had a big blow out; that outfit only lasted about 30 minutes.

Look at that little smirk . . . he's laughing at Mark.

I think his eye lashes get longer every day!

This face would make anyone's morning better!

I try to snap some pictures of Jacob everyday but I don't always get around to downloading and sorting through them right away. So here are some pictures we've taken during the last few weeks. I'll try to post more soon.

Happy 1 Month Jacob!

Jacob was 1 month old yesterday! He woke me up at 3:45am on the dot to celebrate with a diaper change and a feedings. Wednesday we went for his one month check up and he weighs 9 lbs! We don't have to go back to the pediatrician for a month now which will be a change since we've been at least once a week since he was born. He's grown and changed so much during his first month, it's amazing. He smiles at us now which melts your heart! He loves looking around at the bright lights, walls, and outside world; but he also still loves snuggling with Mommy and Daddy to take a nap. Walking outside can calm any amount of crying and screaming, and I'm hoping his lack of enthusiasm for a dirty diaper will aid in potty training down the road. Boy how our lives have changed in the last month, but in so many wonderful ways! I'm sure 90% of my time this month has been spent feeding, changing diapers and washing bottles but I've loved every minute of it and it's gone by so incredibly fast! Yesterday he spent most of the day eating and screaming . . . I think he was going through a growth spurt. He was so exhausted by the evening though he slept for almost 6 hours at one time last night! Today is a new day and he's back to his normal sweet self. We're looking forward to seeing what the next month has in store for us.

I managed to snap a couple cute picture in between feeds and melt downs.
