Happy Grandparent's Day!

The start of school always makes me think it's Fall and that the leaves should be changing and mornings cool.  Every year I'm quickly reminded we live in Florida and the start of school simpy means  school started.  It's still pool weather, we still wear flip flops, and we still have to wear sun screen and bug spray anytime we're outside.  There have been a few hints of a change in seasons this wee though, and we'll take anything we can get.  It was in the upper 60s 2 mornings this week (I'll take it even though it was still in the 90s during the day).  Football started.  We haven't been getting our daily afternoon thunderstorms (everyday), and it was actually somewhat pleasant working in the yard this morning while the breeze was blowing and I was in the shade.  So, I decided it's officially Fall and decorated last night after Jacob went to bed.  The pumpkin wall hanging was the first thing he noticed when he woke up this morning :-).

It's been 2 weeks since Mark's surgery and he's recovering well.  It's a slow process and the first 2 weeks were extra tough because he had to be out of work and was stuck at home all day.  Tomorrow he returns to work and although he's still moving slowly I think it will bring back some normalcy and routine to our lives.

Last weekend we went to St. Pete to visit our friends Devon and Nolan.  It was nice to get away and have some extra help with Jacob.  Of course we had a great time visiting with them too :-).  We had a low key weekend but being in a new environment was good for all of us.  We took Jacob to a local park,  went to Costco and bought a new (much needed) microwave and Jacob acquired a giant Mickey Mouse.  We also went to the beach for dinner and to watch the sunset one night.  Jacob loved the boats and the pelicans (or as he called them peck-i-pa-kins).

This weekend we've had a quiet weekend as a family.  Yesterday we went to the Farmer's market, then Home Depot for their kids workshop and then the Natural History Museum.   We are so lucky to have this museum only a couple of miles from our house!   This morning we successfully completed our 4th attempt at Jacob's 2nd birthday pictures.  The first time was his birthday weekend; Jacob wanted nothing to do with it and wasn't feeling well so we rescheduled.  On our second attempt the photographer was sick, our 3rd it poured rain for 12 hours beforehand, and finally today we were able to take some pictures.  Hopefully I'll be posting some cute photos soon.   So, now it's an afternoon of housework and preparing for the week.  I've decided we need 3 day weekends every week!

Finally, today's is Grandparents Day.  Jacob is so fortunate to have 4 AMAZING grandparents and 2 great grandparents in his life!  Even though we don't live next door to them we're able to see them many times a year and to video chat with them often which makes up feel very close.  We love you Grandad Jack, Great Grandma, Ganma, Gandad, Beep & Pops!
