Edisto 2013

Family Picture 2013

We had another wonderful year at Edisto.  Our drive was about 5.5 hours and went better than expected thanks for construction almost the whole way.  You might read that and think I'm being sarcastic but I'm completely serious.  Mark would agree, it's the first time we've ever been so excited to have construction lining the road the entire drive.  When Jacob wasn't sleeping he was looking at every crane, backhoe, roller and dump truck he could spot.  It was great!

Jacob's real feelings about the picture :-)

We started our week with a family boat ride on Saturday morning.  We've been on this ride many times over the past years but it's always a bit different and always fun.  Jacob loved being on the boat and LOVED seeing the dolphins!  Once he saw them the first time we heard "more dolphin, more dolphin" the rest of the trip.  The ride took us back into the rivers looking at old plantations and we saw lots of birds and dolphins along the way.

MORE DOLPHINS!!!!

The first part of our week was filled mostly with golf.   Aunt Susan (Oma) and Teddy came down from NJ and the boys played golf Saturday, Sunday and Monday. We also enjoyed yummy seafood caught daily by one of the local fishing boats and Henry treated us to many delicious sushi meals.

Jacob's first Putt-Putt . . . everyone got a 2 on every hole. (One hit and then Jacob put the ball in the hole).

We spent the rest of our time playing on the beach, riding bikes and riding in the golf cart (this was a first for us this year but a lot of fun).  Jacob wasn't sure about the beach at the beginning of the week but warmed up to it over time and eventually had a blast playing in the sand.  He kept telling us it was dirty(Mark's child huh?) and spent a lot of time using buckets of water to clean off our feet.  By the last day we even got him to sit down in the pool we built on the beach.  He also liked going out to the bay in the evenings and looking at the Egrets and crabs during low tide.

It's such a quiet, relaxing place and a family tradition we all look forward to.  We look forward to taking Jacob there for many years to come.
